Something I am going to start doing is what I like to call “behind the story”. Whenever I start a new story on Wattpad, I am going to give y’all a little background on it. I don’t know about you, but I hate getting a $40 book from a store like Barnes and Noble, read a few pages, and end up not liking that book. It becomes forty bucks wasted. I know you could always return it, but I don’t know what my problem is. I don’t really like causing a scene, and I guess I feel if I decided to return something it would cause a scene? If that makes any sense. I don’t know. So what I am going to do, is give a little background info of each new story I write, that way you guys get an idea of what the story is about before you even read it.
DISCLAIMER: I’m sure we are all aware that all Chronicles of Narnia copyrights belong to the wonderful author C.S. Lewis. And since this has characters from the tv show Merlin involved for a crossover, anything related to the show Merlin, copyrights belong to BBC1. Please correct me if I am wrong on that one.
I have always been a Chronicles of Narnia fan. I remember reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in second grade and then going to see a play on it with my second grade class before seeing it in theaters. I’m sure I’m not the only girl who can say that its because of the character of Susan Pevensie that I got interested in archery. I didn’t actually turn it into a sport or anything, but I did like the idea of it, again if that makes any sense. I started writing this story, A Broken Kingdom, not long after the first film came out but also long before I knew fanfiction was even a thing.
I first tried writing it as just a Narnia story, but for some reason, I could never seem to get it to flow properly, so I eventually gave up on it. A few years went by before the tv show Merlin came out, and I tried it as just a Merlin story, but ended up having the same problem. Just as I was deciding to quit it as a Merlin story, I came up with the brilliant idea to try it as a crossover. I say brilliant, because I think I have something that I finally like and I hope you guys like as well.
The story is set during the Golden Age of the Pevensie’s reign, well after the events of The Horse and His Boy, as well as between seasons 1 and 2 of Merlin. When Morgana is still considered good. I always liked Morgana’s character and wonder how the show would have turned out had her character remained good. Am I the only one who thinks that?
For many years, Narnia and Calormen have been at odds. When Calormen breaks a peace treaty and invades Narnia, the monarchs escape and find refuge with some unexpected allies. The Pevensie’s know that the only way they will get their home back is if Susan accepts Prince Rabadash’s hand in marriage. With lives on the line, will the Pevensie’s keep their faith in Aslan? Or will the pressure let them fall?
I’m not sure if this really clears up what the story will be about, but it at least gives you an idea. And if you read The Horse and His Boy, then good. You will at least know a little bit about the conflict between the two countries.
Well, I guess that’s all for now. You will have to read the story if you want to know what happens. Let me know what you think!
